You know what's really crappy? People who feel there's no reason for them to celebrate anything, so they have to ruin your day.
Just once I'd like to live somewhere and know some people who are like me in that they will take any excuse to have a party. Especially parties that occur on holidays.
Instead, I live with people who think "Hey, you don't exist, so why should I bother? A holiday is no reason to celebrate being alive, so there's no reason to actually have a good time, or do anything special." And people who have to start fights with me for no goddamn reason.
I think I'll just get drunk

I realised how happy I am to be part Irish, part German, and part Italian (as well as Swedish and Norwegian)... it means I get to take part in St. Patrick's Day, Oktoberfest, and um.. Italian things without feeling like a complete poser.
I learned only a couple of years ago about the Irish/German/Swedish/Norwegian parts from my dad, so I feel all fuzzy inside and overexcited about these things. All I used to know was that I was half Italian.

Colcannon recipe
This is paraphrased from the book Classic Irish Recipes
1 bowl mashed potatoes
1 bowl cooked cabbage
1 onion
2 tablespoons dripping (or something less gross, like butter or something) per lb. of vegetables
sea salt and pepper to taste
milk if necessary
combine mashed potatoes & cabbage
peel & chop onion
melt dripping (or whatever) in heavy frying pan & cook onion
remove & mix with potato/cabbage
season to taste & mix in milk if it's too stiff.
add rest of dripping/whatev into the hot pan &, when very hot, turn potato/cabbage into pan & spread it out. Fry until golden, then roughly cut and keep frying until there are lots of crisp brown pieces.
it's really a Halloween thing, and involves a ring, which you can put in there and it's supposed ot predict marriage or something for whoever gets it.
But I thought it was apropriate, and it's really yummy. but I didn't get any today
I thought someone would make it, but they hate me, and didn't.
I think I'll make a wishlist, not because I want you guys to buy me stuff for my birthday (which I'm pimping, even though it's over a month away), just because I have nothing to do at the moment.
