Burning
silent as the night
and heavy with words
suddenly like my shadow
she breathes life into life
she speaks to me
and i can only wonder-
how long?
she dreams with me
and i can't imagine-
why me?
across the vast geographical distance
across rivers, i dream
of feeling hand grasping hand
and kiss upon kiss
as the ache turns to dust
and the scream turns to smoke
two rebels:
the distant angel poet
casting shadows on the desert,
and the one who is drawn to her
the windblown blur in the photograph.
