The past few weeks have been really interesting for khoos' etsy shop. Sales are growing exponentially, she got approached this weekend for something that has the potential to make that happen even faster, and we seem to just be getting better at production speeds. I just wish the kitchen was self-sanitizing. The bleach is really tough on my delicate hands. tongue

To clarify my earlier blog:

It is never a good conversation when a contractor says "it could be an easy $20,000-$30,000". Our house is fucked.

I had another contractor, who specializes in structural repairs, out to look at our bowing wall/sagging roof. This guy was the first to say "oh, you'd be better off doing an addition to add a second level". I try and...

Yeah, I'd love some wedding gigs. Not artistically satisfying, but those fuckers pay!

Also, the giant pic of your marshmallows at the top of your blog is a total tease. tongue
lalou:
Ha ha! If you put it like that then I'd love to keep you company in the kitchen. Just provide me with a platter of vegan marshmallows and good coffee to go with the entertainment.

Watching the 1987 film epic "Masters of the Universe". It is truely epic - and epic pile of crap.

Took a tour of a pre-school this morning, which we're most likely going to enroll T in. A while back we toured the Montessori school in town. The Montessori is 3 times the cost. From what we saw, the teaching styles are very similar for her age group. The biggest difference is this one is a non-profit, run out of a small church. They don't...

Happy first day of spring. Anyone else wake up to snow? Drove my dad to the airport at 4am, got home in pouring rain at 6:30, then woke up to 1"+ on the car and yard. WTF?

I'm going to split this blog into blah and good.

I have always been hesitant to undergo surgery. Especially before, while I was still living at home with the boys, but now too for that fact that I won't really "lie still" long enough to recover properly.

A cure for asshole, huh?! Unlikely!

Yes, there are places to do sessions outside. The owner of the facility says she does "walking sessions" around the place. To be honest, though, in Southern Louisiana there are only a few days a year that are good for being outside for any length of time. Thanks for the feedback on the facility. I'm less torn about it today than yesterday!

Shaving is overrated, methinks.

So, now that my 15 minutes of fame are up tongue, time to get back to real life.

While no where as horrific as what has happened in Japan, our area has been hit hard with flooding. We were lucky enough to just skirt it, but we did get 4-6" of water in our basement. Not too much was ruined, and most of what was...

One of my least favorite times of year in New England construction is coming up: mud season.

The ground freezes about three feet down, so as the warmer weather begins the snow melts and the ground starts to thaw. Thats when the trouble starts, as the thawing ground and melting ice cannot drain because the deeper frost will not allow any drainage. Whatever is on top of the frost line as it slowly gets deeper and deeper becomes soup. There were some years in New Hampshire when we would have 18 inches of yogurt to wade through, and then of course everything would freeze solid again, locking whatever was sunk in the muck in iron hard earth until warmth returned. We had a basement flood once under the re-freeze conditions (frozen pipe) and I think every one of us on that crew just wanted to walk right back out the door and drive away on first look.

Good job getting the bleach down.
