So, better update on the whole baby thing...

I stayed home on Tuesday because khoos was sure it was the day. I called my dad and asked him to take T for the day. Contractions on and off, but nothing really productive. Finally at about 3:30-3:45am, she calls her midwife to come over because the contractions were getting really strong, but still weren't really consistent. At best, the contractions were 10 minutes apart. She'd been in and out of the tub so I told her we need to go into the bedroom so I can blow up the birthing tub (a.k.a. kiddie pool). I've got the pump running and she's gotten down on all four, moaning in tune with the noise of the pump - very weird. Suddenly her water breaks on the floor, which is to be expected right? I toss a towel on the floor and she crawls up on to the bed, still on all four. Suddenly, I notice her grabbing for her crotch. I look around behind her and HOLY FUCKING SHIT, she's crowning. Still no midwife. I grab my cellphone and tell her I'm calling 911 because I know fuck all what to do. 911 answers and the baby's head is already out. Needless to say I am freaking out. What do they do? Transfer me to the wrong police department! eeek I call back and finally get transfered to our local PD and by that time I'm holding the baby! Within a couple of minutes, an EMT is here and checking out the baby. About 10 minutes later, the midwife shows up. She'd gotten stuck behind a snow plow. They clean khoos up, cut the umbilical cord and help her deliver the placenta. People are acting like I did some amazing thing by catching my daughter. In reality, I panicked, grabbed a towel and just was plain lucky that I was holding the towel in the right place. surreal
