Tonight is going to be interesting. Thanks to Facebook, I reconnected with some friends from when I was in high school. We were a mix of losers, punks, geeks and weirdos. We drove shitty cars, drank and did lots of drugs, dated girls with big hair (it WAS NJ in the late 80's), and some of us even formed a band. A few of the gang looked like Judd Nelson in "The Breakfast Club". My friend Jon and I were really into the NY Hardcore scene, and were punk as fuck. I'll have to find pictures of me with my mowhawk.
We met when a few of us worked together in a grocery store. My group of friends from my town combined with the group of friends from the neighboring town. Like most teens, we hung out in the 7-11 parking lot or in the parking lot of the grocery store.. unless we were off somewhere getting drunk, smoking pot or snorting enough cocaine to kill a horse.
Most of them stayed friends. I haven't seen most of these clowns in almost 20 years. That is going to change tonight. I expect it will be very different - a few beers, some food and most of us getting home so that the baby sitter can be home before midnight.
All the messages going back and forth let me know that the jokes are still the same - and still fucking hilarious. Should be a good night.
