I get along with my brother ok because I am a very, very patient person. Well, I'm easily annoyed, but it's hard to piss me off. But I think he thinks he's the only adult in the entire world, except for a couple of his friends whose lives he wishes he had.

I'd say that division of opinion is a pretty good indication for the movie. Those who like sentimentalism will enjoy it; those who find sentimentalism grating will find it boring and terrible. I like the sentimental bits, so it worked for me.
