i saw september 11th tonight and it's a mix bag of great and bad stuff. eleven directors from all over the world each make a short film that is 9 minutes and 11 seconds long about 9/11/01. the one short that stood out from all the rest was from mexico and it was directed by alejandro gonalez inarritu. most of the short comprised of a pitch black screen with music of chanting and noise. there would be flashes of footage of people falling from the twin towers. this was the only experimental entry in the movie and the best short. it was one of the best things i've seen all year. i just wish the theatre had better sound because it would be amazing to hear the chanting all around and the climax would give my body chills. it kind of gave me chills when i saw it tonight.

french director cluade lelouch made a short film about a deaf woman living with a tour guide. this short was completely silent except for a low distorted bass noise like the earth shaking which i really like because it made look more at the compositions. sean penn represented the usa and his short actually made me cry. this is ernest borgnine best performance, well, i've only seen him in comedies and i haven't seen any of his dramatic roles. borgnine plays a lonely widower living in an apartment with no sunshine until the twin towers fall. his flowers next to the window blossom and he starts to cry and wishes his wife was there to see the flowers blossom.

i have four movies to watch now. demonlover, once upon a time in mexico, cabin fever, and underworld. demonlover is going to the theatre is going to the theatre i work at so i'll be able to catch bits and pieces of it.

i have to pick movie trailers from a friend tomorrow. one of the trailers is stay tuned with the late and great john ritter.
