So I've decided Salad Days in Promenade mall is my new fast food place to go. Their wraps are badass!

I've also decided this Chemlab: Rock Whore versus Dance Whore remix album is fucking awesome! Remix albums always wind up being some of my favorite music from experimental artists. Snog's Relax into the Abyss has some fantastic Trip Hop/Noize/IDM mixes on it. Its also where I first learned of Beefcake, one of my favorite bands of all time.

Another great one is Assemblage 23's Addendum. A23 hit their peak with Failure in my opinion. His other albums just aren't as good. And this remix album had some fantastic stuff, in particular Converter's reimagining of Silence and Red Sparrow's reimagining of King of Insects. The King of Insects one was especially impressive because Red Sparrow took a rather weak song with potential and made it incredibly climatic and emotional.

There are a couple remix albums by bands I would never have bought a CD from but these artists they got to reinvent their music did phenomenal jobs. I'm talking about Das Ich's Re-Laborat and Soil and Eclipse's Archetype. Soil and Eclipse if you don't know is an acoustic goth band. Pretty rare here in the middle of the country but its a pretty popular and snotty scene over on the left coast. The remix album doesn't have too many tracks but they really are quite amazing, especially the one everyone is most likely to be familiar with, Exile (Return 2 Glory mix). Das Ich is an old german band that makes really boring ebm industrial style music. Well that's my opinion of it at least. They have fans. Either way the remix album really brought an amazing tone to their music. This was back when VNV Nation actually did more interesting things with music and their mix of Destillat is badass. The original version, pretty boring.

And speaking of VNV Nation that brings me to the last remix album I'll mention. It is actually a single. This one is probably a bit more debatable as whether its one of the great remix CDs out there but its one of my personal fav's from this band. It has the Covenant mix of Solitary on it which is absolutely badass in addition to an original instrumental track from VNV called Fallout that is very badass.

Anyway I'm going to quit there. Yeah I love my experimental electronic music. The aforementioned may be popular today but I remember the time before Metropolis records, where A23 was on Gashed and Covenant was on 21st Circuitry and Haujobb was on Pendragon. The internet hadn't quite caught up with all the underground acts yet either and hard drive space wasn't up to 100 gigs. It took a bit more to be a music snob back then. Now a days all you have to do is go to the record label's website and start going through bands. Pretty soon you're just going to wind up being so underground that you're listening to local bands in Sweden.

I purchased Haujobb Vertical Theory. I should receive it today.

I think it's time to dust-off the Nitzer Ebb CD's as well.
