i like to study religion....though i am far from religious, myself. i justlike to think of myself as spectator.

i enjoy looking for the roots in many beliefs and seeing how they tie in with other religions. i have found that many religions are the same in many aspects but ironically enough everyone believes that their own religion is the one true religion. this is all very silly from a spectator's standpoint.......which only makes me want to learn more about why these people act the way they do. and the simple answeer that i have found is that its all a matter of what people are told in church or by parents or whatever, without the slightest concern that what they are being told may be utter bullshit. everyone has ulterior motives....especially when money's involved....and oh boy, is there some money in religious matters.. the thing that bothers me the most about the christians i know is that they don't try to figure out where it all came from and what it really all does mean..........its like am i the only one who cares about this stuff.?

i really could go all day talking about all the things about christianity that bothers me but i won't (and if i were in contact with some other belief system i'd go on about that too...so don't think i discriminate)...........the real reason why i have religion on the mind is i was watching a special on the history channel about angels and it just proved a couple of my thoughts........they were talking about how they change things in religious texts....taking stuff out mainly.....and that bothers me. is it just me isn't changing things around like that a bit wrong. it just leaves so many more uninformed people who blindly follow without questioning a thing.

the other thing that got me was another parallel i noticed and that was that many angels are similar to many gods in polytheistic beliefs. many angels are said to rule over certain things....just like some gods........i just found that very interesting, is all.......i mean people sometimes pay some sort of homage to angels.......but hindus and the greeks and romans are/were just dumb whatever

haha yeah....just a rainy day here, and i havn't gotten much done....so i thik i might try before the day is over

I make this arguement all the time. It is amazing how, if you do the research, that is the point that you will extrapolate from all the information. That is why one of the larger churches in the world today (I think the largest) looks down on those who would research too deeply into their roots.

Yeah, this always amazed me as well. If your religion can't stand up to the test unedited, should it really be around at all?
