I just got back a little over an hour ago from the US. What a crazy weekend. Are you ready? It's a long one!
Friday night after work, my friend Mel, Anne-So and I are on our way to Mel's house. I should probably tell you that my friend Mel is very outgoing and really friendly. We stop at the gas station for some gas and then we head to her place. We're driving down her street and a cop car pulls up behind us and puts on it's lights to get us to pull over. We pull over and then another police car pulls up. They ask Mel for her liscence and go back to the car to check it out. Another cop asks her if she's been drinking because they received a call that she had been. She's straight edge! She tells the cop that and the cop obviously can tell that she hadn't been drinking so they let us go. We get to Mel's house and she tells us that we should go swimming. We head for the pool with no bathing suits so we just strip to our underwear and jump in! That was fun.
Early Saturday morning we drive to NYC to go visit our friend Libby who just moved there about a month ago. We got there around 5PMish because we got lost. Anyway, we call up the youth hostile we were going to be staying at but the lady starts yelling at us because she thought we were going to be there early even though we told her we would be there late in the afternoon. She told us that if we were going to stay there we should pick up the room key within 30 minutes or we wouldn't get a room. We told her to forget about it. My friend Libby called her aunt to see if we could stay there but there wasn't enough room so we called back the youth hostile like 5 times but no one picked up. We ended up checking out some stores and then around midnight we realized we had nowhere to stay so my friend Mel went up to guys on the street to see if we could sleep on their floors. She found some drunk guys that were willing but we knew it was a stupid idea so we didn't. Mel called up some kid from NJ she met at a festival and asked if we could stay there but his mom didn't want us to so he got 2 of his friends to join up with us and we all got a hotel room about 30 minutes away.
Sunday, we all went out for breakfast and then headed to the mall so us girls could go to Hot Topic. I spent over $100 there. I got some stuff to add to my Bettie Page collection! After that we tried getting a hold of Libby but we couldn't reach her so we headed to Allentown, PA because God Forbid was playing a show there and I'm friends with Byron. We got there about 8:30PM but I couldn't get a hold of him because the venue didn't get reception so we had to hang out at the back door because we didn't have tickets. One of the security guys asked us what we were doing so I told him our story so he said he'd tell Byron that we were there. He came back out after with some backstage passes! We got there just in time to see God Forbid play. When their set was done I went to see Byron who I never actually met before. We had met online a few weeks ago and talked on the phone every night. He brought us backstage and we hung out for a bit. Anne-Sophie and I had to pee so Byron showed us to the bathrooms. A few minutes later some girl comes in and tells us to get out of the bathroom. Two security guys are waiting for us. They ask for our ID and then ask us to step outside. I was fine because I'm 22 but Anne-So is only 18 so the security guy tells her that he's going to call the cops and she'll have to pay over $10 000 in fines. He heads back in with her ID. I call Mel to come outside and then tell her the whole story. A bit later another security guy comes out and gives Anne-So back her ID but tells her that we can't get back in which we really don't care because the show was pretty much over anyway. We headed back to the hotel with some of the guys from God Forbid and hung out in their room until around 5AM and then headed to our room.
We left Allentown around 1Pm and got back to Montreal around 10PM. That was my crazy weekend. I'll post some pictures from the trip later this week.
