nostalgia time!
last night I saw the newly reformed Voice Of The Beehive at a tiny warm-up gig for their tour with the Wonderstuff.
bought back a lot of memories - not least remembering how much i actually loved the band at the time.
it could have been dodgy - when your fave bands reform, sometimes it just isn't the same (hello blondie). this could have been a shambles...but it turned out well.
me and my mate (who I actually met at the time through the Beehives) couldn't stop grinning once they took to the stage. they played all the singles, and I couldn't believe that not only could I remember all the words, i also remembered all the guitar parts that I worked out all those years ago.
it was great to meet up with mike (the guitarist) and melissa (the singer) again after all these years. i'd become quite friendly with these guys at the time, staying over their house in stoke newington, mike recording and producing a few demos for my band at the time, going out on the piss with them, hanging out backstage (and generally being a complete ligger!)
I hope the tour goes well, and they decide to do some more stuff next year(luckily they seem to have ignored their half arsed third album). I don't know if there will be much call for them being back together, but i hope they do try and stick it our for a few more gigs.
