roll on august bank holiday...
cos i'll be going here:
to see these guys:
this was all organised very quickly on sunday. i was talking to my insane cousin about how we would miss The Bouncing Souls when they come over to the UK in Aug, because they are only playing the Carling Festivals. But they ARE playing a bunch of European dates instead, playing the Melkweg in Amsterdam with Pennywise on August Bank Holiday monday!
so within minutes, we decided that we should go for three days - see the gig the first night, then have 2 more days to hang out in Amsterdam.
20 minutes later we'd booked a smart 3 star hotel for joke money, booked flights with BA for 38 return, and got the tickets to the gig.
i must say, i'm fucking excited. i've never been to Amsterdam before, but i've always wanted to go. i know i'm not a smoker, and quite frankly there MUST be more to Amsterdam than just smoking yourself into oblivion and going to sex shows (any recommendations?
). anyway, whatever - i've never been before, and i get to go somewhere not in the UK this year when i thought i wasn't gonna manage to get out of the country at all.
four weeks to go!

Been ever so busy!
So fun things to do, not touristic....
best terrace is the weather is good would be Soundgarden on the corner Marnixstraat/ rozengracht.
Best park, Vondelpark. If you're more in a beach mood, try strandwest, Stenen hoofd of Blijburg. Those are wonderful city beaches where all the cool people hang out!
Best club would be the place I DJ. hehe, Korsakoff, lijnbaansgracht 161. Open weekends 22:00 till 04:00 and weekdays 23:00 - 03:00. Starts getting busy around 01:00. It's on the same street as the Melkweg, where I guess you're going to see the bands!
A good old fashioned metalcafe is the Cave, prinsengracht just off the leidsestraat. Also about 5/10 mins walk from the melkweg.
Shopping would be Diabolo, oudezijdsvoorburgwal 242. Or the "flea"market Waterlooplein.
For an amazing view of the city go for lunch/dinner/ barbeque or just a drink even to club 11. Next to (to the left of) centralstation in the old postoffice. It's on the 11 floor, with a terrace on the 12th. AMAZING!
You've got the redlight area, which if definetly worth checking out. I don't know if you like museum's but the modern art galery is situated ander club 11, on floors 0 - 10. Then you've got the rijks, van goth, sex, hash, and various photography museums.
Behind central station you can get a FREE boattrip to amsterdam North, its a 3 minuit journey but gives you a nice view of amsterdam from the water.
If you're out for some comedy, Boom Chicago on the leidseplein, again round the corner of Melkweg is a stand-up comedy place.
Best cd place would be Fame on the Kalverstraat, just off Damsquare or Boudisque allmost at the end of the Nieuwendijk. Also if you must have some fishand chips, on the nieuwendijk is an english f'nc shop, Al's plaice!
Want some Ink? Go tho the tatooshop on the Kerkstraat, also off the leidsestraat and 5 min's walk from the melkweg.
uhmmmm I guess thats all I can think of right now. Have fun. xoxo
