it's questionable whether or not i'll go out tonight. no good bands playing. i think there are some sgtx folks coming into town, so maybe that will materialize into something.
well, i have no revelations. i'm going to go distract myself. until next time...
oh yeah...check out pic#13. there is NO bigger ham than yours truly! oink

it feels very odd starting my weekend on a friday. i haven't had saturdays off since high school, and that was a looooooooooong fuckin' time ago! hopefully, something fun will be going on tomorrow. probably not doing anything tonight. here i was, all set to go rock it up at twiztid, but i just couldn't get my hat to sit right. wink damn, the free stuff...

i'm not sure if that place still exists or not, but if so, i'll definitely check it out!

free porn! tons of free cds! AND i got taken out to dinner!!! not a bad haul for one day's work. it feels like i have 10 pounds of wet cement in my stomach. training for the new position was a bit rough today, as my boss (whose place i'm taking) has a very short attention span. things are progressing though. my new days off...

If you're interested in a recommendation for something to do Friday and in the mood for jazz, try Ron Miles with the Fred Hess Quartet at the Victory Grill in Victory Grill in Austin (1104 E, 11th St.). Ron Miles is a trumpet player who's played a lot with Bill Frisell, but has a couple of nice CDs of his own out in the last couple of years. I don't know much about Fred Hess other than he's a tenor player and a Denver resident and label-mate of Ron Miles.

I'm on the Ron Miles mailing list (if you can't tell). Congratulations on the free porn.

the AUSTIN CITY LIMITS FESTIVAL is this weekend. 3 days of bands-a-plenty. there are some good acts here and there, but i don't think i'm gonna go this year. i went last year, and it was complete chaos! there are supposed to be twice as many people in attendance. life will certainly go on if i'm not there.
now that people have accepted the "regime...

hmm...i didn't think about naming my command center.....i'll have to ponder that for a bit.

that's so great that everyone at work is glad you're the new boss. what's not to love about mulholland, hmm?

and so it was made known that the pompadoured one would be running the show henceforth. suprisingly, everyone was pretty happy about it. that was very cool. i feel better, although there is still alot to do.
i'm already reaping the benefits of the new gig: no more workin' late, saturdays and sundays off, my own parking space (but no car.....soon!), and probably something else....

i used to hang out at the village constantly.. to eat, drink, do homework, anything. i still go there some. the metro became the factory and then closed about 7 or 8 years ago. twisters closed a couple of years ago and turned into a very similar club which turned into nanci raygun's which supposedly sucks. 3rd street'll never change. i hadn't heard of the other ones you mentioned. must have closed before my time!
invisigirl:
sheesh. the darn thing started malfunctioning right after i wrote about it in my journal. i guess if you want something done right, ya have to do it yourself!

tomorrow brings the reprogramming of yours truly from 2nd in command work horse to douchebag with an office. the days of spinning endlessly in my oversized office chair with my pants wadded up in the corner will soon be upon me...at least i hope so. my first order of business will be to find a nice drawer to put my gun. that will come in...

my excuse is that i was born here, grew up here, and the only school i applied to that accepted me was vcu. swore i'd leave as soon as i graduated but i still haven't done that and then i had to go and buy a store.
which bars did you go to? they're probably not normal, just... so... boring when you've been going to them forever.

the gods are angry at mulhollanddrive. that's what it's gotta be. i should just go to bed, but i've opted to sit up and listen to nick cave. actually, i had to take it off after 3 minutes of that "babe, i'm on fire" song. nick, i think we get the picture.
well, that's that. i'm going to bed. y'all can hang out here if...

I though Nocturama was pretty good. Obviously not as good as early Cave, but still OK. But 14 minutes is waaay to long for "Babe, I'm on Fire."

my apartment is eerily quiet tonight. just got home from a ridiculously long work day. we had a band play in the store, so i had to stay for that. last night's dropkick murphys show was lots o' fun. roger miret & the disasters were great too, but i could have done without the unseen. 2 kids who were behind me at the show came...

i knew this day was coming soon. i think we all did. woke up at 6:30, and got online. there is was: "johnny cash, country music legend, is dead". like i said, this wasn't a surprise. it was painfully inevitable. when june carter cash died not long ago, i knew johnny wouldn't be too far behind her. he has left behind an amazing legacy, and...

quite an interesting day. i woke up before the sun came up, and watched some of the 9/11 memorials on tv. needless to say, today started on a somber note. it was pretty much a normal day at work, until i found out that i won $1000 in a sales contest. i'm splitting it with 2 other people, but hell, $333.33 ain't bad for doing...
