my biz partner/great pal was hit by a car a couple of years ago while riding her bike home from work, and is just now getting to the litigation stage with the insurance company...yesterday she had to undergo four hours of interrogation by a professional asshole (the insurance company's lawyer) who tried to make her look like some psycho loser who can't possibly understand how to run her own business because she's an artsy, medically challenged, psychologically broken woman. the only violent tendencies i have are projected at myself, but it makes me wish very ill events would happen to all people who design insurance laws. insurance is supposed to be there to HELP you, that's why we PAY for it. instead, insurance has become some bizarre form of self depricating sado masochism. we all do it, buy into the idea that we need insurance "just in case", and yet we EXPECT to get extremely fucked over by these corporations if anything bad actually happens.
i'm just so goddamn tired of feeling like we're all trapped inside this corporate/bureaucratic rigamarole we call society. so so tired.
on a lighter note, the romanov report is being released, and is suggesting universal drug plans among others to be included in our health care...it's about fucking time!!!!!!! it will cover everything, including expensive insulin dependency (my sister in law pays over 400 a month just for insulin related stuff, which she will die without, she's a type 1 diabetic), or hiv/aids drugs like azt, naturopathy (but only if it's "medically proven" to assist symptoms), chemo resistance drugs, all that stuff many of us need to survive...that's all going to be covered. whew. okay, that made me feel better about how badly insurance companies fuck us over.
