I talked to my buddy Mark yesterday--he occupies a space in my life with several labels: Should-Have-Been Lover, Part Time Substitute Father, and always, always Unfailingly Supportive Friend. He's begun suffering from some sort of dementia. He said he's been showing signs for a while, but he can tell it's getting worse. He told me that he can feel his mind slipping away a little more every day, and he wanted to tell me how much he loves me while he still remembers who I am. Make me cry much? Oh yes.

She's got Crohn's disease, and she's developed some new blockages, so Wednesday of this week, she's having surgery to remove 8 feet of her large intestine and some part of her colon. She'll be in the hospital for at least 2 weeks, and will be off work for at least 4 months while she rehabs again...she's been through this several times already, but this relapse is probably the worst one she's had.

My Aunt Georgie died today. I think she's actually my grandma's cousin, and so not precisely an aunt, but she's always been Aunt Georgie to us.
