One of these days, I might actually take the time to find my 5th "Favorite"...but I really kind of like having that empty space there. It leaves me open to new possibilities smile

...and you know, I could really use some new possibilities in my life.
goblintcat:
Well then it's a plan. I guess I'll worry about driving the neighbour out once I'm actually there. I was thinking I might just start moving in and see what they say!
carlow:
Damn straight! It's too soon to take another sick day, though! Drat... mad

Yay for days off! Especially when there's three of 'em in a row. Hooray! biggrin

So I spent the day in the kitchen, cooking all sorts of yummy things, and now I'm too full to move oink

So maybe I'm going to like this job after all, but who can tell for sure confused

Just out of the oven cookies?!?!? That's it! I want to become your neighbour!!!!
goblintcat:
The good news is that my cats are MUCH quieter than dogs! Now...lets see, passport, green card and job. That should take what 45 minutes to get all straightened out? eeek

I survived my first night at the desk. There was *nothing* going on last night, and I mean nothing. I bonded 4 people out of jail and listened to about 12 phone calls, and that was the entire evening.

Oh, whoever asked--I think it was slavewire--a shift is 8 hours. 8 hours of trying to climb into these tall chairs with wheels on them....

Cool getting paid to compare ring tones! smile

Thanks for the encouragement, guys smile

Today was, according to every person in the Records department, the slowest day they've had in at least the last 6 years. That was good for everyone except me, as the only training I've gotten occurs in the middle of me taking a report from some poor unwitting officer. Today I took every report that came to my trainer's desk--more...

Bummer about the uniform...we could've had some fun...you in your cop uniform and I in my fire fighter's....hehehehehe...
slavewire:
so wait.. you work for the police department but don't get a uniform?
and now you start on nights? your body clock better be ready for that.. how long is a shift?

The job, I'll get used to. I hope, anyway. Because they've decided to "try something new" in the way they're training me. Most people get 6-8 weeks before they're expected to really be answering questions, taking reports, etc.

Yet I took my first 3 reports today. I have NO idea what I'm doing, no one has even showed me how to log onto the computer...

So, I'm off to the new job in about 45 minutes, so of course I'm online smile Gotta have my morning fix, since my 'net habit is about to be severely curtailed shocked

Still got the spyware, despite the great advice I've been given. I keep getting the most obnoxious popups--mostly from WinFixer, an online casino, and something called sexbuddies.com. Er, sorry, I already have one of...

Just wanted to know how your first day went, and to ask about how you got your job. I know we're in different states but looking for information for Mnementh.
masquerade:
Spyware sucks. We had one of those have-a-pop-up ones for quite a while, too, but my fianc killed. Not sure how.

Spyware = 1

And the nerves are setting in. I know, it's incredibly difficult to believe, but I'm...gasp...shy, and not very good at meeting a bunch of new people all at once. I'm nervous about the new job already, and it doesn't even start until Tuesday frown

goblintcat:
I just noticed your comment in Digipunk's journal about paying for Spyware removal. Bah! Forget about that. You can download Adaware SE and the Microsoft anti-spyware dodad for free. They run well together and will get just about anything you have on your system.

Most software that scans your system and then asks you to pay is a scam to start with. If adaware and Microsoft don't work let me know. There are other programs to use as well but those 2 are probably the easiest to set up.
goblintcat:
I would. Just to be sure. Quite often those try & buy deals give an awful lot of false positives in the hopes of panicking folks into buying their stuff. frown

Good luck tomorrow!!!! Knock thm dead! smile

Ahh, my last weekend of unemployed freedom...

As is the story of my life, I've procrastinated mailing a few packages. They're not late Christmas presents, just a few things that I've picked up for particular people and have neglected to send. And I've got a few things in mind to ship off to a couple of people here, but I either haven't been to the...

quitting smoking isn't that hard just find something to keep your mouth busy (i.e. chewing gum or lollypops or possibly the end of a pen) honestly this works
slavewire:
how long since you gave up the ciggies?

i really admire people who mail stuff to each other. i love the idea of it.. sending and receiving stuff in the post..
but as much as i'd like to, i'm actually really bad with sending stuff to.. well.. anyone! whatever

hope your christmas was good!

Everybody's all up with their updates, and I have just not cared very much for the last couple of days biggrin

Well, it's mostly because I have a very boring life.

I did get a shiny new cell phone yesterday. It has "When The Saints Go Marching In" as one of the ringtones, so you know I had to set it on that song. And it...

Fancy phone! My sofa has no ring tones whatsoever or other bells or whistles, thus your phone wins! Of course sofas are better to nap on than cell phones so I guess it's a tie!
memyselfandi:
It's amazing that you can't get "just a cell phone" anymore. Camera and video are really dumb features to have in a phone.

Ok, where were we? Oh yeah, update.

First things first. I'm hiding the dramatic, climactic parts of this story in a spoiler because I don't want you accidentally seeing what happened before you get the background biggrin

My NYE date fell through because I have the knack for attracting guys who are nothing but assholes covered in a very thin veneer of NiceGuy-ness. I talked to...

good at least i still have today and tomorrow off to totally recover! And hope you didnt get too drunk!
carlow:
Resolutions? Actually, yes, and with all efforts to avoid sounding like everyone's typical resolution, I really do plan on getting in better shape. Change of diet, more exercise, etc. I plan on sticking to this one. Aside from that, let's see... not really a resolution, but I really gotta get another band together... miss playing live!

How's about you? smile

Hi y'all smile

Nothing new going on today. I live such a quiet little life smile

Although I think I actually have a date for New Year's Eve. This is an unexpected development since the apparent demise of my harem biggrin

I'm still a little shocked that no one's even heard of Marshall Crenshaw, but I don't know why. He's probably not a great fit for any of...
