From the UK TV show 'Sapphire & Steel' [1979-82]. A properly scary programme shown early in the evening so as to give young kids nightmares. It succeeded. My younger brother could be frightened by a whistled tune from the second story, or by the threat of the bloke above. It also made use of sinister phrases such as: "Doctor McDee must die..." The show starred Joanna Lumley  [Sapphire], and David McCallum [Steel].
