a bronze age necklace c. 2000-700 BC

This is my favourite possession. Found by an old friend whilst field walking in about 1989. It is shown as it was in the ground when discovered. It was next to a large nugget of bronze 'spoil', and had obviously been buried with the intention of being dug up again. But it's owner never returned. I often wonder who that was, why he or she buried it, and what happened to them.  From left to right, the elements are: A blue glass bead. This has been drilled through to take a cord. A very smooth piece of river agate, not drilled, but possibly bound into the cord. A Boar's tusk. It has been drilled, but sadly, has broken at that point. Another blue glass bead - but this is interesting. It's Egyptian in origin, called 'Faience'. It too, has been drilled. Finally, there is a piece of Amber, again drilled for mounting. Drilling tiny holes would take weeks, months, even. Using a sliver of antler or bone twisted between finger and thumb. These items were offered to the owner of the land where they were found, but he wasn't interested. My friend, who works at the local museum had them verified by the County Archaeologist. I bought them, and the bronze 'spoil' off my friend in 1991.
