I know I was updating the other day, but I ended up getting distracted, and turning off the computer before I sent the update. Silly me.

My mom called and did that whole thing where she began a conversation with me .. but I seemed to have come into the middle of the conversation. She had clearly been thinking of something, and assumed I was on the same track, but not so much.

"Do you want asparagus?"

"Uhmmmm.. no, I'm good, thanks. What an odd question."

"NO. NONONONO. For EASTER."

It appears that whatever was bothering her so much had temporarily blown over.

'Oleanna' is on, and I'm reminded how much I truly enjoy David Mamet. .. and for that matter, how much David Mamet appears to enjoy William H. Macy. I know that for many, his stuff is likely slow moving because it is generally begins in the most mundane storyline. The dialogue between the characters eventually turns into the most realistic interpersonal drama. It gives a great glimpse into human nature, and I find it fascinating. The words/phrasing he chooses for his characters are so specific. Also, something I've noticed.. he clearly believes in the importance of one actor listening to another. There is this thing he'll do where he'll have one character say a phrase or word.. and the other character shall repeat the exact same thing, but there is a vast difference between what is portrayed from the first phrase, and the same phrase repeated by the other character. To me, it shows that the variable in the situation is the CHARACTER and not simply the script. That the difference between characters is NOT just portrayed by text, but in the psychology of them. It all reminds me of the Meisner theory and my acting coach from a couple years ago. Makes me miss it. I would likely be one of those loathed method actors. But I do miss it. The idea of being able to create an entirely new psychology for a character and be able to react as that person instead of yourself. To be able to change such an instinct is amazing to me. Not sure if any of that made sense, but yeah.

I would love to have heard from you this morning, love. It's been a truly wonderful past few days.

Perhaps another attempt at sleep is warranted.

Thanks, I appreciate it. I try and use things like this to remind that there are things at work bigger than who I am.
