I know we are all seeing the tragedy of those trapped in New Orleans ,But as I speak to many of my friends who did evacuate there is another problem... The south is poor.. very poor.. much poorer than most of us in the rest of the country can even imagine. When I lived there I didn't make much money and lived very comfortably because the cost of living is so low.
Well many of those who did evacuate do not have the means to afford an extended evacuation. there is talks of months before they can return to their homes if thier homes even remain. and the have very little with them. Most have little if no savings. And very the very little that they took from their homes. They will need temporary homes and jobs or fresh starts some where else.
I don't have a solution just that I see this as yet another problem and pose to all of how we can help and what solutions we as a country can come up with for the mountuning problems that we face in the coming months.
