For some reason, I prefer hanging out with guys. But only with guys who feel mutually platonic. There is a very small number of women that I LOVE hanging out with ... and that's mostly because their behavior is much more like the behavior of cis-males. smile

I think a general problem with intergender interaction is if one of the parties does not entirely live up to the other person's gender expectations. Personally, I find men who read a lot and are thoughtful very attractive. If you end up in a room with a guy who thinks the most relevant thing in life is football and fitness etc., chances are that he won't be too excited to hang out with you...
So while this may have something to do with "role models" or poor peer behavior, it may also have to do with gender stereotypes, people's individual expectations and situations you may find yourself in...

Happy New Year and thanks for reading!

Winter break has begun. Though I am looking forward to the next two weeks off, I'm really going to miss my students.

Reading, writing, doing art, watching movies, fucking around on the Internet are all in my plans. It shall be glorious.

I was so sick at school yesterday, I took a nap on one of my couches in my room during my plan period. That couch is really comfortable. I still had to leave early because I just couldn't make it through the day. I should add that I have couches in my room for my students to get comfy on during independent reading time.

Once when I had a training class full of twenty people I had to get a sub to come in. I spent the rest of the day in the back of the room with my head down because my boss wouldn't let me go home.
