Ok, so some surprise developments have brightened my outlook on my trip and provided some new options.

I just found out that several of my other friends are going to be in South America this winter as well! Two in Argentina and Patagonia, and another in Chile. There is a really cool guy that will be with our party as well. That solves the third wheel problem of being with a couple

I'm still considering taking my new girlie. We haven't been hanging out for very long, and have never taken any trips together, but the idea of having her down there is pretty exciting. I don't know, we'll see what happens....
