For today's Blog Homework, I thought I would do Share an heirloom or sentimental item with us and tell us about it.
This is an Olympic Ring that my mom got from a cousin that participated in the Summer Olympic Games in Rome, Italy back in 1960. My mom's memory of somewhat muddled lately, she can't remember which event my family member participated in. It might have been track or volleyball. I need to spend some time researching it and talk with my family members in Italy to find out more about the history of this little gold ring.
From what I know what my mother has told me, only Olympians get these rings. The fact my mom got it and I got it from her is really special. I don't wear it a lot, so I tend to save it when the Winter or Summer Games take place. But for now, I have it shelved in a very safe place. I won't wear again not until the Summer Games in Tokyo in 2020.
