I'm not tired enough to sleep tonight, so I guess I'll ramble here and see if that helps any.
My birthday is coming up soon, but this year I'm not even excited about it. Every birthday I have brings disappointment it seems...I try to gather my friends, but because it's finals time for those in school, and holiday time for everyone else, all my plans fall apart. The last few years only a couple of my friends showed up to celebrate with me, and while I really appreciate them for it I still get bummed out because a lot of my friends are missing. Hence why I finally gave up on planning gatherings for my birthday the year before last.
This year I'm even skipping town on my birthday to see a concert in another city. One of my friends will be there too, so any celebrating after the show will be small...and that suits me just fine. Then I'll return to town, do the usual family-only celebration somewhere, and not plan for anything else. If my friends want to take me out, cool. If not, fuck it. Hopefully the concert will be fun enough that I won't NEED any other celebrations and won't feel disappointed if no more surface.
After that's done with, the next stop will be Xmas I suppose...all I have left to do for that is wrap the gifts and sign the cards...everything's been bought. And then I end the year seeing the Flaming Lips.
I think out of all of the above I'm looking forward to that show the most right now...they're so much fun live.
Other than that, there's not much to report I guess. I'm pretty well settled into my new place, I just need to find the motivation to put my kitchen together so I can start cooking again. It'd be done except that I have a bunch of pots and pans and other things that aren't dishwasher-safe that need cleaning before they can get used again, and I HATE doing dishes. And they do need washing...I wrapped them in newspaper for the move because I had plenty of it lying around. Silly me. Maybe I'll get that accomplished tomorrow since I plan on hiding indoors from the cold and rain that's scheduled to trip through here...I should have plenty of time to catch up on my laundry and clean up around the place...that is if I don't distract myself from those things with the interwebs or movies or something (or all of the above).
And just thinking about cleaning up around here makes me tired right now (FINALLY!), so I guess I'll wander out of here...
