I don't know about anyone else...but I really dig the new profile set-up. The last one was way too restrictive, especially in the interests lists.
As promised, I've uploaded a decent (in other words, not great) picture of myself, facial hair and all. There are better ones if you stop by my Fuckspace page.
Strange weekend...Friday I saw a local punk band (Pump'n Ethyl) that's been defunct for a long time. Other than the fact that their singer had to rely on lyric sheets to get through their set, they were really good and a lot of fun. I even have a souvenir.
Unfortunately, my friends all abandoned me due to the shitty weather. A storm raged through Texas, bringing tornadoes and hail with it, but it passed by so fast that it was over long before the show started. I couldn't convince my friends that it was ok for them to show up...and even more sad is that the show was FREE.
Then Saturday I worked all day, returned to my apartment, took a nap, ate, did some drinking, and saw Roman Numerals. Go find them on Fuckspace if you haven't heard them yet...they make me think of Bauhaus, The Cure, and We Are Scientists, but without sounding exactly like any of those bands. A friend of mine joined me for the show, and brought me a bottle of SoCo, which I happily made trips to the car to drink from instead of spending my money on overpriced drinks. Oh, and it was fucking cold all day and night thanks to the storm from the night before, which is really weird to have happen this time of year here. Anyways, after the show I hung out briefly with another friend, then returned to my apt., watched Shaun of the Dead, and crashed.
Woke up Sunday afternoon, and had a message from my Mom. Turns out one of the neighbors shot his two daughters, then himself. The older daughter called her mother (and I guess 911 too), and my family woke up around 5am to the wail of sirens. The father was dead when police arrived, and the two daughers were rushed to the hospital. The younger one, age 6, died, and the older one, age 13, underwent surgery and was still in critical condition the last I heard. My Dad wound up on 2 of the major evening news shows, and will probably be in tomorrow's paper. He sort of knew the father, so he's kinda bummed out about the whole thing (and understandably so).
Also, I had a ticket to see Blood Brothers, but they cancelled. Apparently some of them and some of the people in Celebration (who are opening for them) are sick. So I spent most of the afternoon/evening/night doing homework. And now it's after 2am and I'm not tired and I have school tomorrow morning at 11am. Should be interesting to see how well I function tomorrow if I don't get some sleep tonight.
Other than that, there's not much to tell....though I suppose that's more than enough. Tuesday, Year Zero comes out, and I'm really excited about that. I just need to figure out the best way to acquire it from the record store that'll be holding it for me in Dallas when I'm in Denton...
