what began as an earnest attempt at a decent journal entry devolved into a rather painful coughing fit and a sudden lapse of cohesive recollection. may this post instead serve as a reminder to never again attempt to type anything on my laptop whilst on my side.
it's monday night, nearly early tuesday morning, and i will rise again in less than 5 hours now. sleep, while not a rare occurrence, is a valuable commodity these days. this program's special necessities dictate that those participating put at least 13 hours of work in a day (though the next step will require more). this is a suggested minimum, and is in no way an accurate indication of how much time we all spend cloistered in our small classroom - the window shades shut tight, luminescence on linoleum.
the time not allotted to sleep or studying is spent on additional tasks. this includes, but is not limited to: ironing uniforms, shining boots, cleaning the room, shopping for supplies, and exercising. there is a good lack of traditional "free time," though after an experience like basic training the absence is insignificant. new routines become comfortable, and now i'm happy to just spend my weekend in and iron my clothes to perfection.
i realize that i'm pontificating. maybe now is instead the time to sleep.
if only my roommate would stop smacking his fucking lips in his sleep, the fucker.
