driving down highway 5 today, the engine roaring, the rain pouring, i found myself howling and growling along with my good friend tom waits. i came upon a realization then, listening to an advance copy of his new album, "orphans," that it feels like we're all living in his songs. what a great collection.


halloween was meh. i skipped going to the castro, which is fine i suppose, seeing that ten people got shot there. yay! i ended up just watching darkman and the skeleton key while snacking on pumpkin seeds. we only got a handful of trick or treaters, so i have tons of candy left, none of which i will eat.


rented final fantasy xii yesterday. have spent almost every minute playing it. it's that good. i love the new battle system, i love the story, i love so much about it.


my meeting got moved up to today, but it wasn't a fitness test after all, just formation and marching exercises, free pizza and PO nixon acting a fool. turned out better than i expected. i have three more meeting before i leave.


nearly lost my voice today from the odd combination of singing alone with waits and running (though not at the same time). right now it's all gravel and growl, and i like it like that.


found my phone in my truck, right next to the copy of "crunk juice" i thought i had also lost.


i woke up this morning to chainsaws and treefalls. a group of assholes, or landscapers, whatever, are working across the street, cutting down some huge trees that have been there since we first moved into the house. i used to have a nice view out of my window, but now i have to look at this yellow house the trees were obscuring. what's worse is that i already hate the people that live at that house. now i have to see them, too? fuck.


i'm sure there was something else that's happened that's yet to dawn on me.
