Why am I such a jaded fuck?

Let's just go with my most recent girlfriend for example.
I met Julia at a party. My friends were all using IRC to chat while at work and heard about a Halloween party in town. They wanted me to go along because they know how I get when I am drunk.
So, I throw on some armor (story for another time) and jump in the old 80 Impala and head over. I pick up Casey and Chuck. Casey is dresssed up as a burnt out Neo. He pulled it off great because he was about 36 at the time with greying hair and a beeer belly. Chuck got into his hockey uniform.
We are at the party milling about seperately. They knew almost all the people there. I knew noone. I wasn't a chat geek I just crashed the party. So everyone is asking me what my nick is and I haven't got one. I wasn't one of the cool kids. It also turns out that this is a birthday party. Well shit Nickalicious didn't bring a gift either.
Despite my social faux puax, i got along well with everyone including the hostess. Her name was Tammy. They had this Huge sheet of paper on the wall that everyone was signing with birthday wishes. It was really cool. I went over to sign it. I was thinking of what name to use when I saw her writing.
"Tzigaine" What the hell does that mean? I asked her. She tells me it is a gypsy word for traveller. I took the pen from her hand and signed the wall Adque. She says "Ahhh, Latin but what is the word that goes with it?" Daemonshadow. Into the demon's shadow is essentially what it means.
About 6 months later I am sitting with this stunning creature in a Denny's. we are talking about relationships and such and she asks what I am looking for. I tell her that I am looking for someone whose path is following mine, nothing more nothing less. In all honesty that is what I still look for.
3 more months go by and we are sitting in her living room watching a movie and I just kiss her. I look back on it and have no idea what possessed me to do it but it was one of those life altering decisions you can't take back. Do I ever wish I could take it back.
