Audioslave mixes 2 of my favorite things. Chris Cornell's lyrics, he is my favorite song writer. Tom Morello's guitar art, he isn't my favorite guitar player but he is up there and when I play you can hear the influence.
"The Curse"
Help me I dont know what Im doin
Help me before I fall to ruin
And if I'm blind, I will lead you on
Come follow me now, before our time is gone
And as you're laughing at this fool tonight
Let me rid myself of any line that I might choose to trip you up
And as Im howling at the moonlight, dont you kid yourself
I will be your luck and never be your curse
Never be your curse
Help me I don't know what Im saying
Sometimes this tongue can be betraying
And if I'm wrong, is that such a crime?
And if you want, you can set my words to right
So as you're laughing at this fool tonight
Let me rid myself of any line that I might choose to trip you up
And as I'm howling at the moonlight, dont you kid yourself
I will be your luck, yeah
And if your eyes forget to well
And if your lies forget to tell
And if our paths forget to cross
It doesn't mean you're lost
So if you're laughing at this fool tonight
Let me rid myself of any line that I might choose to trip you up
And as I'm howling at the moonlight, dont you kill yourself
Even at my worst
As you're laughing at this fool tonight
Let me rid myself of any line that I might choose to trip you up
And as I'm howling at the moonlight, dont you kill yourself
I will be your luck
Even at my worst
I will be your luck
never be your curse
One of last night's events was to go and tape my friend Don's band who just reunited. Unfortunately for them one of their guitar players has the virus I had. He asked me if I could play 3 cover songs with them. I took my guitar and effects processor and showed up to the bar not knowing if I wanted to do it. I gave it some thought and decided to do it. (I didn't want Martini to kick my ass.) We played "The Curse' and "Show Me How to Live" by Audioslave and "The Mountain Song" by Jane's Addiction.
I almost puked before we finished.
I promise to tell the full story of the evening later. I think I will anyway.

Edited to add: Out of curiousity, what would he do anyway?
