How much do you know about it? What do you think it is? Do you like it? Do you hate it? Think it's retarded? Think it's funny? Well here is what I know about it.
Over the past 10 years I have played many a computer game. My first encouter with +1 was on the forums of Blizzard's "Diablo". I saw a thread that had the title +1. When I looked in it was a bunch of posts that said simply +1. I asked my friend Chuck what the fuck it was all about. He told me it is just there to up someone's post count.
I have seen this phenomenon of 6 forums other than the ones here. It evolved from a simple +1 post to people posting it in other threads, usually being used to show agreement with the post they quote or in support of the topic. Then, I noticed it while playing "Return to Castle Wolfenstein", A first person shooter. People would kill an opponent and say +1. (I hope you get why)
The forums here are the first time that I have seen the thread become one where people conversate with each other. It is also the first forum where I have seen people outright hate it or try to understand it. Other people trying to turn it into some kind of "club" is just odd to say the least.
If these forums are your first encounter with +1and you just want it to go away, I'm sorry. It will never disappear. It is an internet phenomenon much like O RLY, LOL, STFU, RTFM or pwn. Computer geeks are an odd breed of person and +1 will not be the end of this sort of thing.
All that being said, anyone who reads, do us a favor. Go to the +1 thread in the Silliness forum and post a simple +1. Tell the Zero sent you. We are trying to getSophie_sass a +1 tattoo. She had joked around earlier in the thread that she would get one if we reached page 500. It appears she is really going to do it.
Oh and one more thing. This is the longest +1 ever and it didn't even count

The thing that I find irritating is the misplaced +1s...when people fuck up other threads or just say +1 in response to something. I despise that.
