Ethics.
They are making us take ethics courses at work. The way the company I work for is, most people need it. What does this have to do with anything?
I spent the majority of my week stressing out because I think they are going to make me move to another warehouse or lose my job. I also stressed out a lot because I am trying to find a trump card to play so I don't have to go. At work if you are some sort of minority they will buckle and give you what you want. This sucks because then guys like me have to take the shit end of the stick even though someone else is perfectly capable and qualified to do something.
The distraction they gave me was "Eric". Eric's mom is the sister of one of the drivers. She is fucking one of the owners of the company. Eric gets his way. He wanted to get his CDL so the owner decided he was allowed to get paid for practicing manuvering the trucks so he can take the test. Eric is one of the stupidest people I have met in my life. He is the type of guy that makes you feel stupider while you are around him.
I was the one chosen to teach him to drive the truck. How nice it was to have broken fingers. The kid could not grasp any of the concepts of manuvering a truck with a trailer attached. His uncle gave up helping him. The owner said that if he failed the test he would be fired. My manager told me, "Make him pass. No buts." Eric asked me if I could get him to pass. I told him that when I was through with him he would pass.
He passed his test yesturday. While we were driving back to the warehouse I told him "See. I told you I could get you to pass." His quote - "Yes, Thanks man. If it wasn't for you I wouldn't have a joband my uncle would be really pissed at me. If there is anything I can do to repay you, let me know."
My question is this. Is it wrong to take a person who is unethically employed and use him in a unethical manner? For example, use what I did for leverage to keep my position where I am.
