The Anti-Super Hero AKA Mr.Ruckus
I think i need to change my name
Just to play it safe
Something that sounds strong
Like aaaargh
Or Samson cause of the hair
A good name that sounds like I look
Cause I don't want to have one of those names
That no one calls me cause I don't look like that name.
I want a believable name
So once they call my name up and i step on stage
You automatically believe what i'm going to say
I want to change it to something like Ron
Cause Ron means Power
And then if you didn't like what I said you could always blame it on my powers
I want to be the Anti-Superhero Ron
Who wears Jeans and a T-shirt
Who hair isn't always combed
Who sometimes doesn't want to be responsible
But still is.
An honest anti-superhero
Cause real Supermen don't need capes or costumes
but I'd have crazy gadgets like a CD
and my secret weapon would be a notebook
and I'd walk around with it rolled up in my back pocket
and I'd slap the shit out of people with it.
Then I'd force them to read it
That's what I need
that and truth
And I'd gather strength from people's belief in my words
And I wouldn't grow from the seeds of my own hype?
And I wouldn't write my poems in disappearing ink
Cause these are not just words
And I don't have time to play
I live for a living
So take my hand if you need something to believe in.
I can't just leave my words on stage
cause we all have to look in the mirror one day
And, no we are not all poets
And, no we don't bleed the same
So save your stories for the sunday strips
Cause i don't have time for this.
But I do want powers
I want powers like
The ability to adjust to circumstance
And conviction
And periodic nut checks
Just to make sure I still have them
I want ot be one of those original anti-superheroes.
Cause originality is underappreciated like butterscotch lifesavers
An Anti-Superhero
One who's not afraid to take some chances
And doesn't need to fly
and remains unfazed by the expectations on him.
But is grounded
by his own gravity
And a voice
Maybe not my own
Cause sometimes
I think some know me better than I know myself.
I've heard some people say ' you know, that's my poem right? '
And i believed them like they wrote it
Cause someone has always reminded me of me
And they all smiled like
They knew what I was thinking
and they were right.
Supermen ain't perfect
There'll always be shadows people aren't afraid of
Someone will always know my weakness
But I'm not afraid of this
So, when I speak
I don't just want you to feel me
I want you to hold onto every word I say.
Cause I'm really worth it
You know what?
I don't want to be a Anti-Superhero
Forget the Anti-Superhero spiel
I want to be a comedian
Yeah, a comedian
cause we seem to listen closer to comedians.
Cause we are always looking for a reason to laugh
And I want you to laugh
Real hard
and when you get to that uncontrollable point.
I'm going to pull you aside
put my arm around you and whisper something so serious into your ear
that your laughter will stop
and you'll probably say...something
cause you find that type of silence threatening.
But I'll just hold you real tight
look you in your eyes
Smirk and tell you get over it man
It's only you you're tripping off of.
Don't "feel" my poem,just......listen!
