I liked "Australia", and am fan of the director, Baz Lurhmann.

In the end, "Australia" turned out to be the perfect Australian Epic Western.

Check out his first film, "Strictly Ballroom".

The beginning of the film was in the classic Baz Lurmann style - quirky and over exaggerated. Had he carried this through the rest of the film, other than with the scenery, the picture would have been tiresome. I agree with you, Parker.

For a good example of this style, check out "Strictly Ballroom". We also see it to some extend in "Moulin Rouge!"

Now speaking on the scenery, it was a fantastic characiture of Australia. Watch the film again and pay attention to the scenery. You'll realize how vibrant and exaggerated it actually is.

Good craftsmanship in this film.
