random thoughts:

Last Thursday, a friend invited me to brunch on Easter. My response, "Maybe. When's Easter"? Sheesh. I mean, I'm not very big on celebrating most holidays, but you'd think I was at least *aware* of them.

A guy asked me if I was going to watch "the game". I'm not even sure what sport he was talking about, let alone which teams. My responses in these situtation tend to be general, things like, "no time today", or, "not a big fan". The other day someone mentioned the Boston vs. U.Conn game, and I said, "Yukon, are they from Alaska?".

Still heartbroken over my ex. Saw her last night and went home in tears. Saw a great movie though, "The United States of Leeland". Highly recommend.

I finally finished "Underworld" by Don DeLillo. Another massive tome (my favorite authors seem to have become extremely verbose of late - Pynchon's latest, Stephenson's latest, and this one - all over 800 pages). "Underworld" was a mixed bag. At times briliant, at other times tedious. When all was said and done though, I really liked it. Towards the end it has a great line...

"Most of our longings go unfufilled. This is the world's wistful implication - a desire for something lost, or fled, or otherwise out of reach."

Certainly tragic, but succintly beautiful in my eyes.
