The newsbit about Atlanta's CATALYST program has me fuming. Sick to my stomach, actually. Every time I hear about a work-or-lose benefits scheme, I about lose my lunch. Most of my childhood was spent living with just my mother and a sibling or two at any given time, and we were on welfare 95% of the time she was the only parent in the house. The idea that we could have been homeless to boot freaks me out. It was shitty enough trying to make that little stripend and foodstamps stretch for 4 weeks.
The posts by SGers reminds me of Fahrenheit 9/11. Or was it Bowling for Columbine? yes, the latter I believe. That poor woman who, in order to "work" enough to stay on public assistance to feed her kids, had to work 2 min. wage jobs about 4 hours from her home. She spent almost as much time on the bus as she did working, never getting to see her kids. And while she was on one of those busses, her kid was either shot or the shooter that killed a little girl. One of those, "oh, I've never seen a gun before! BAM!" and a 6 year old kid is dead by the hand of another 6 year old.

Oh, ideas that Americans have are pretty Sussed but, to generalize all Americans I'd have to disagree!! I believe there is hope for the future along with the next election. Many of us 30 somethings & younger are fed up with this war & all the other b.s there trying to fed us & want change. This will come with Hillary's landslide victory!! Don't give up hope!! Michael Stipe would tell you the same thing.
