I may have mentioned previously that my cat, Hagashi, has the sort of honed survival instincts normally found only in really clueless bowls of pudding. I should also add that she is possessed of the physical ability of a lazy stick of butter.

When Hagashi feels that I'm not paying enough attention to her--that is to say, always--she likes to reach up and claw at things on my desk. My computer is under one side of my desk; I've got a fairly tall tower from Lian Li, with a grill of speed holes molded into the top rear corner. Being cruel and utterly heartless, I'd already shooed Hagashi away from my desk several times today. A few minutes ago, I looked over and saw the tips of her ears poking up over the far side of my desk, behind where my tower sits. I stood up to shoo her away again, and she gave me a plaintive meow. It's the meow that means: "Um, help?" I know it well.

In trying to get my attention, she'd gotten her left thumb claw hooked into one of the holes at the top rear of my tower. If you can imagine having your weight stretched between your tiptoes and your thumbnail, which has been caught in some sort of infernal thumbnail-catching device, you can imagine how her annoyance was quickly turning into real pain. It took me five whole minutes to get her still enough to work her damn claw out of my computer. And when I was done, she rubbed her head against my leg...

...and then started pulling at the cables leading up to my LCD.
