I got a wild hair up my ass to check out my first elementary school (we moved around a bit back then) on Google Maps. This led to me exploring the town where I lived until I was 7 or 8. Seeing as how it's been over two decades since I've been anywhere near the place, I remember a surprising amount, and going over the map in satellite view brought back more. I remember the softball park where my mom's team played; I remember the name of the street my dad was living on when he and mom first started dating; I even found the house where my grandfather and his horrible second wife lived, which is the first home I really remember living in. There are scattered memories of apartments and rented rooms (a single room, with permission to use the bathroom and store food in one of the drawers in the refrigerator downstairs) before that, but grandfather's place was the first real home. I couldn't find the baseball field where my teeball team practiced, even though I thought I could remember how to get there. I also can't find the second house mom and dad rented together--some street that starts with E, I think, but none of the ones I found sparked anything.
