For 2 and a half months now, there has been a family, of what I thought was grey squirrels, living in my attic.
1 of them, what I was told by a Veterinarian was a baby grey, would sit on my computer table and watch me type. I decided that I needed to get them out of my house, so I set out the hav-a-harts and proceeded to catch 2. I brought them to a wildlife rescue, whose number I got from the Vet, still demanding they are grey babies, who asked me What the hell is that?. It is a northern flying squirrel, But they don't live around here., she said.
With that I dropped them off, feeling kind of angry that I did so. That night who is sitting on my computer desk but none other than this guy, set the trap, build him a home and there you have it. now you may say oh how cruel keeping a wild creature. Here is the deal, flying squirrels, much like sugar gliders can bond rather easily with humans, especially when they are born around their scent. while he was in the hav-a-hart, he would eat out of mt hand and let me stroke his nose, he refused to sleep so I tossed in a freshly worn sock, which he proceeded to fluff up into a ball and make a bed. After searching the internet, I found that the average life of a wild NFS is about 4-5 years, however in captivity the can survive up to 10 plus years. So he now has a home, that he seems quite comfortable in. OOh, I think I can hear his sister running around the crawl space.
