I just saw this movie tonight, and am still wondering if I'm more disappointed than delighted.
The movie was done in IMAX3D and was absolutely an amazing visual experience. The storyline, however, greatly varied from any textual rendition I remember.
The true epic of Beowulf was so bastardized it almost made me edgy, and completely changed the perception of the hero as a selfless, proud, and unwaivering warrior to one of a corrupt, boastful, seduceable, weak minded liar. I would suggest if you are going to see this movie, go to the 3d version, and if you read it take it as a completely new character in a never told story, you'll at least enjoy the special effects that way.
