Yesterday, Tyler, my oldest boy cat and best pal in the entire world stopped being able to use his leg.

In the morning when I left for work he seemed fine, but when Josh got home at 5:30pm he noticed the problem.

Josh immediately dropped everything and took him to the vet, but the were closed so he went to the emergency vet. They ran x-rays and saw no fractures. They ran a catheter because his bladder was huge and they were concerned that he had a stone that wouldn't pass and therefore the bladder was over full and possibly pressing on a nerve. Unfortunately that was not the issue so they tried steroids and still no luck. Over $800 spent and Ty was still the same and we still had no definitely diagnosis.

Went straight for the emergency vet at 7 this morning back to our regular vet who thought that it was either neurological or Saddle Thrombus. Our vet then got us in with a neurologist (there are also internal medicine specialists there) and went headed there with Tyler.

The neurologist did a neurological exam and thinks that it's most likely Saddle Thrombus, but are now doing ultrasounds and other more extensive tests, i.e. more blood panels and such. So now the bill is at $1600.

I'm really hoping that he will be okay and that it isn't Saddle Thrombus. If it is he will be on a number of heart meds and he will most likely develop another clot in the future...and eventually will be in unbearable pain. He's already in pain but it's okay for the time being.

I am dreading the outcome of this. I love this cat more than anything else in this world. I won't cope well if I lose him now. He's only 9 and was supposed to be around another 10 years frown

You have a back yard. You could totally get a hammock.

I have to go hiking into the woods to put mine up.

I understand completely. I would rather save an animals life over a humans any day. Especially one as close to you as your kitty.
