As some of you already know, I work for a gourmet food company that is a direct selling outfit. I dont do any selling myselfI would suck soooo much at that. I act as the office manager of the corporate office as well as the executive assistant for the general manager.
The company is very new, but we are securely backed, as our parent company is the same one that owns that little candle company, Partylite.
This month we are doing media events with our celebrity chef in four major markets. Tonight is our first one and it is being held here in Orlando. This means that I will be working from 7:30 this morning until at least 9pm tonight. The event starts at 6pm for media and 7pm for the public.
I may end up on TV or in the paper, which I am not thrilled about. The one good thing is our celebrity chef is British and funny. At least I dont have to go to the one in Detroit, Dallas, or Chicago. I wouldnt mind going to those places, but I am much more of a behind the scenes, detail kind of person.
I just dont feel comfortable with how I have to dress and present myself at work. I have to be much more reserved and quiet. I have to be sure that all of my tattoos are covered and I often feel like I look frumpy. Im very sure that my general discomfort with who I am at work will come through on camera. To top things off I didnt sleep very well last night and I have the headache from hell, so I know that will show.
I must constantly remind myself that I am paid wellthat my job could be worsethat I get to play on the internet in my down timethat I dont really have a right to complainthat others have it far worse than methat some people have to alter who they are for shitty paybut, I digress.

What I love about my job is that they don't care how many piercings or tattoos I have. I hate it when they say you have to cover them up. You should be able to show them off!
