Old vehicles! For more than 10 yrs I worked as costumed security at the Michigan Renaissance Fair, but for the past two years I've opted out because my old cars weren't up to the 110 mile trip (one way) between home and the fair each weekend (8 weekends). Now, I just work our wooden swords and shields booth at some local fairs and have just as much fun. My niece is in SCA, though I never joined. If I were 20 yrs younger, maybe. smile

Last week of school.. the kids are out early for the rest of the week, and then "summer" begins tongue Mind you, the leaves are slowly coming out on the trees and my Iris is beginning to poke out from the ground, but it is still at least three weeks before I will feel comfortable about planting outside. Something about getting killing frosts in early June......

AHHHHHHHH hand sewing. To think I am the professional who is getting paid to sew and you are the one doing the hand stitching. Ya if I hand stitched even one top it would make the price unpayable to the customer. Glad to hear you are free of the onion problem, and I am more than willing to do the tailoring on the dress for you like you asked. Much love...
ta2dmom:
I wish that I could sew like that. My God, I don't think I could pay enough to get someone to teach me to do that and how to knit and crochet. (well, I can crochet but it's very minimal stuff at best.)
Totally jealous!

OMG I'm glad you're okay though. I used to have a very mild allergy to onions but have since grown out of it. It's funny though, I don't like them much so it's one of those "no fair" type things. I like them heavily cooked only. (or battered and deep fried wink)
Enjoy your weekend.

I made it to Anchorage and am sitting in bed with thoughts in my head and not yet settled enough to try and get to sleep. This house is quiet and everyone, including the dogs are asleep except me. A nice time to just sit back and reflect I guess....
This weekend is Mother's Day, and I find myself over 300 miles from my kids...

Wonderful outfits! biggrin

Sounds like things are still hectic for you, keep sane wink

Isn't it wonderful watching your child perform, be it an instrument, acting or dancing. You get this feeling of pride and love welling up from your stomach causing, a probably, cheesy grin on your face.

Have a great time away in Anchorage and HAPPY MOTHERS DAY!!!

Take care.

Hubby is home (thank goodness!) and all seems to be back to the normal grind. I have way more to do than a sane person should, and summer is creeping way too close at times smile
There are many things on my want list that are in time conflict with my need list...isn't that always the case? I need to get a scroll painted, need to...

I know exactly what you mean about throwing things out. I know what you mean about cleaning their rooms for them and I know what you mean about wants vs. needs.
And, how there's never enough time for the wants after the needs are met blackeyed
I'm glad hubby is home now. Hopefully this means you're getting better sleep? wink

Hey babe!
I've been absent more than i'd like lately, but i just don't feel like hanging out on the web.
i don't even know why. I think my Present life has been having plenty going on, so i haven't been so keen to hang out on SG groups.
i DO miss people tho, you, kijikazi and firemonkey especially, so i wanted to say you aren't forgotten. i start a new faire next week, out of the mud and doing my own solo no less! i currently live near danaddict so we have been hanging out a bit (we have history before SG) and i really REALLY hope to meet bumblebee in TN soon. i think she might come to the faire!!!
so my SG friends are real, i just happen to SEE them less than even my in the flesh friends.
be well, sweetheart!

more soon. kiss

I put my Hubby on a plane to California for the week *sniffle* so I get to be all alone. Thank goodness for really good friends who all came and visited with me tonight to keep me out of the doldrums. We played Apples to Apples and I got a sewing project finished (my machine hated me by the end, but it is DONE!)
We'll...

I know what you mean about the kids don't count when your loved one is away. I don't like it when feerlessfreddy isn't around at sleepy time. frown
Enjoy your SCA stuff tonight.

TGIF.... that's the truth! It has been a heck of a week, but not a bad one, just busy. My son is home now from the hospital and will be living with my Mom till the end of the school year. That gives his siblings and him a good break from each other and will help him to focus on schooling. I am not sure...

I would love to spend a year in Barrow. Because, I've read that that's the place where they have a 6 month day and a 6 month night. I think that would be pretty cool. I'm weird though surreal oh and if I saw you in a T-shirt at 30F I'd throw a blanket on you and tell you you're crazy lol. But, I'm so thin blooded from the desert now that it's not funny. We all went back to visit my family in Iowa a couple years ago for Christmas and I about died and everyone else was making fun of me for freezing lol.
I'm glad you could find a workable solution for your son and that the car is working out for now.
I hope you don't get any sicker though it's no fun.

Well sounds like things aren't too rough for you. Thank you again for coming and opening up the house for me. Well I will talk to you tommarow.

Life is a rather interesting roller-coaster sometimes.... Up, down, up... Even a loop-de-loop to keep things interesting...
The van is still pretty out of it. The final prognosis is that it needs a whole new engine. We do have a line on one that won't break the bank too much, but since my Hubby will be working on it (pretty throughly) it will probably not...

Oh hon, TRUST me, I've been on both sides. I hope they can get something figured out for you. It's not fun to have to deal with life but even worse is life, with something like this going on too. frown
I hope the van can be fixed up right for you and that the secondary car holds out for you until the van is all better. wink.
Good luck with the Dr.

oh and feel free to rant away anytime. I'm realizing that this a great place for it tongue.

it's kinda like post traumatic stress disorder, from what i'm told. a friend has been going thru the same thing. i think she got put on prozac but ONLY for a brief period to try and level out her body's adrenaline output. if you have to go that route, she was surprised that it seemed to work and she was off the meds in a few months (and it was a pretty small dose, too)

oh, yeah, i know well the miracles of packing that can occur!

peace, babe!

Ohh! I got sent a preview of a new show hitting Showtime on April 1st! The Tudors which stars Jonathan Rhys Meyers is an awesome look at the times and trials of Henry the VIII. Incredible costumes which are actually somewhat correct for the time...except the insistence of having the women's hair exposed...major no-no there...Oh well, can't have everything wink It's just all eye candy for...

You can't beat a bit of English history - I fondly remember a rough and ready Henry VIII with Ray Winston in it. Took lots of liberties, but the screen loves that guy biggrin

Hmm lots of sex you say ARRR!!!

And don't get me started on the historical cock-ups in the Clive Owen version of King Arthur. What have the Romans ever done for us? Well certainly not a king called Arthur...check out the older Merlin film for a proper version (bonus feature is Helen Mirren being very evil....wow!)

Sorry to hear about the van. At least my very expensive service and new tyre got done just in time...I'd struggle without wheels.

PS - films and videos....you're place or mine wink

Putting life into perspective....
Things are rough for most of us, some worse than others...but we do have the little things that make it tolerable. I had this sent to me by my nephew and I felt I should share it. I was a volunteer firefighter for a few years and a volunteer ambulance medic for about 7 (Total of 10 long and wonderful years)....
