The camping trip was insane
The event itself was wonderful, and our side actually held their own (we went down for a SCA war event) and even though we didn't win, we had an awesome time
However, the mosquitoes were HORRID! I know, I know...we live in Alaska and the mosquito is the state bird....but they are not normally this bad! My daughter came home covered in almost 100 bites. She looked like she had the chicken pox. I managed to make it out with only thirty or so, and the Zyrtec I am taking seemed to keep them from swelling and itching too bad. Other than the bugs, the only downer part to the weekend was ending up with one hell of a migraine that started Saturday evening and finally kicked out on Monday night. I was still exhausted and out of sorts till Thursday. What a bitch.... Oh well. At least the event went well, and we had fun, and the winning side really loved their war prize....we gave them a wooden cutout of a sheep, covered in pastel cotton balls. I guess it just tickled their funny bone just right
I have been busy getting the dresses done for my friend's wedding. One is totally finished, and the bride's will be mostly done by Saturday. I hope to get it done enough that I can work on my pavilion Saturday evening and Sunday. I start the last bridesmaid's dress on Monday. I hope to have all the dresses done and out of my hair by the 1st.
It is always amazing to me just how crazy things get in the summer. All the people I see during the winter disappear during the summer, it seems. I haven't seen or heard from anyone this past week....Oh well, I know people are busy and it happens. I wish I could get out and about myself.... at least for something that doesn't involve the kids
Everything I get out of the house lately, it has been for TaekwonDo, Drs appointments, and scouts. I missed the Project night and my needleworker meeting Monday due to the damn migraine, and Wednesday I had to miss fighter practice....although that was due to a mixture of being tired and dealing with my eldest. Tonight I get the dubious pleasure of spending hours at a TaekwonDo tournament.....
My eldest has been home since Wednesday, and will be here till the 27th, most likely. I am glad to spend the time with him, but the stress between he and his sister is starting to show again, and he keeps pacing like a caged lion. I can't quite just let him go out and about unsupervised, but I can't leave him here alone either. I don't like taking him with me to SCA stuff since I know there are several people who are bothered by him. With my hubby working all the time right now (summer busy season I guess), I get to be trapped at home pretty much all day.... I'd call and see if people would come here to visit, but everyone is so busy with projects and activities. Oh well, I'll quit whining, it isn't forever, I hope....
My son goes for some major neuro-psychological testing this coming Monday.... What happens after that is anyones guess.....the Dr has been struggling to keep the meds at a workable level without adding side effects that are worse than the illness. The trouble is that everyone is beginning to think that he has been dealing with longterm brain damage, not Autism! I don't know what to think anymore....and I am just so tired of it now....
Anyway, Happy Solstice! The sun will set again in a few more days, but we will have bright twilight for several weeks after that. It will start actually getting dark again around the first week or two in August.....There is a reason we all become hyper in the summer
here's a pretty picture from the road we traveled to get to Tolsona Campground....this is around Paxon....

And I thought the UK's seasons where draining and uplifting in equal measure. We've got ia easy compared to days with no "night" and nights with no days.
No wonder there is a frenzy of activity. I hear the same happens in Northern Europe this time of year, and am ashamed to say I haven't made it that far North yet
Hope it all works out for you and your family. Thinking of you...
sorry it's taking me so long to get back to you, super busy with work at the moment. The recent women problems seem to be ebbing away, in so much as I just don't care much anymore. Nice place to be, feeling very relaxed about everything. Work is going so well, moving on leaps and bounds and got to see some of my work on screen last week. Even got a screen credit, so I'm thrilled to pieces.
I hope things are going ok with your son, it must be exhausting for you.
Enjoy the sunshine, it's currently raining in london, and has been for the past month or so, the UK summer is really sucking this year, so I hope you're having a better time of the warm season.
Speak soon,
