couple of kewl things have gone on in the past week, hence the blog.
last weekend (06/06/09-06/07/09) the band had a show in mountain ranch ca. we made a whoping $10.00 a piece. the place was uber kewl though. they busted out home made tamales, and let everyone in the bar eat for free. once an hour a waitress would walk around with a platter of fresh fruit, also free. it was one of the kewlest places we've ever played. it is called amee's magic cafe. don't bother googling it, they don't have a website and, according to google maps, the place doesn't exist. you might find it under mountain ranch cafe, but i doubt it.
the next day, the band went on a white water rafting expedition on the merced river. our vocalist, Lita Hope, works for Zepher whitewater expeditions, so she got us hooked up with a pretty sweet deal. our guide was bad ass. his name is Rob Kiger, (not sure of the spelling of the last name, sounds like tiger with a "k") if you're in the area, and want an adventure, i recomend Zepher and advise you to request him as your guide. he has 11 years of whitewater experience and comes from back east. he told us about all the wild life we encountered, taught us how to read the water, knew all kinds of historical info about the area, (the merced runs out of yosemite, so all kinds of history there). there was a huge landslide on the road leading to where we launched that is quite the spectacle when viewed up close from the river. of course, we didn't have much time to check it out as we were in the middle of a class 3 rapid when we passed it. needless to say, everyone had a blast.
