i took my doggy to the vet today, and things are not looking good.

my poor little baby has hydrocephalus. it's a condition many chihuahuas get were fluid is in the brain. it affects movement, intellegence, and eventually smothers the brain and kills the dog.

a dog with hydrocephalus rarely lives over two years.


i love my dog like i would love my own child. i literally can't stop crying. my boyfriend is really concerned.

the only treatment my vet mentioned is surgery. if i don't chose surgery, the only humane option is euthanasia...at least that's what he said.

doing my own research, i've found that steroids can help, as well as simpler fluid draining procedures.

still, i'm really worried about my baby. i can't afford many of these treatment options, but i think i'm going to talk to my mom about her lending me some money. she's an animal lover, so she'll understand how much this means to me. my dad just told me he'll get me a new dog. ouch.

so...feeling pretty crappy. stayed home from cosmetology school. spending lots of time with my baby.
