This morning, while I was on the treadmill, I watched a news story about a 15 year-old girl who was severely beaten at a bus stop in Seattle by another teen girl while 4 security guards stood just a few feet away and did nothing to stop it. One guard eventually called the police. I was outraged
The story didn't go into a lot of detail but I have to ask the following questions:
Were the security guards deputized by local law enforcement and had the authority to stop the beating and make an arrest? If so, why didn't they? and if not... Why aren't they? What kind of security were they providing?

I suspect that a security company talked Seattle officials into saving money by using what amounts to nothing more than crime witnesses to hang out at the bus stops to save the city a few dollars over hiring trained law enforcement officers with authority and obligation to protect and serve the taxpayers. Now Seattle, the security company, those four security (witnesses) and the attacker can all look forward to being sued for potentially millions. Wheres the savings now?
