I am pleased to announce that we had our first victory today! The San Jose City Council Rules Committee unanimously approved moving forward on drafting an ordinance to regulate medical marijuana dispensaries. We could not have done this without the hard work of all of our members! We had so many supporters that they could not fit in the room and many had to watch from the gallery outside the council room. There were at least 12 speakers in support of dispensaries and only one opponent (who admitted he was from Gilroy, not San Jose). Most importantly the council seemed to understand the patients' need for a local dispensary and they really want our tax dollars. This is a great victory for us to celebrate together. The medical cannabis movement has officially made it to the South Bay.

We cannot stop here however. There is a lot more to do as SV ASA will be working with the council to make sure the ordinance is fair and reasonable.
