My best friend got her nose pierced tonight I'm so proud of her. She's not normally the piercing type.
I spoke to them about my lip and they said to check it out with work because it's not worth loosing my job over it. All going well I'm getting it tomorrow.

Well I go away for the weekend and today I managed to sleep nearly the whole day away! I got up this afternoon at 4:30. Then I watch 3hrs of the simpsons had dinner. now watching Futurama! Fun filled.

When I was teenager we would often camp on the beach and build a large bonfire and when the sun went down we would let the fire die down and start walking naked over the coals while everyone stood around howling, it was very emotionally charging, yes a very vivid experience. Then again any excuse to get naked.
This all started as a dare one weekend from one of the girls in our group, and because no one had the balls to do it she went ahead and did it (she had read about the Fijians doing it) the naked part was because we had all been skinny dipping in the ocean and she had a towel on, which she took off before walking over the fire. It became a bit of a ritual after that.
It was the summer of 86 on a beach in far north Queensland called Ella Bay near Innisfail about 100kms south of Cairns, there was about 10-15 of us and the drink of the day was 'West Coast coolers'
The full moon hedonistic ritual of a group of disenchanted small town youths growing up within the puritanical Judeo-Christian confines of rural Australia, it was both rebellious and liberating and I very much miss it.
No I don't remember anyone ever getting hurt during a fire walk; they do them at business seminars today just a see 'Tony Robbins' website.
It was a very magical time in our lives, we did try to recapture the experience when a group of us went back to that beach with our partners and kids a couple of years back, we performed the same ritual and had a lot of fun and yes we all howled at the full moon yet somehow it was not the same, one can never recapture the innocence of youth, that special time between childhood and adulthood when one is truly free of responsibilities and the cares of the world and can really enjoy the moment without inhibitions. Yet we never stop trying.
I will say this, it was a defining moment in our lives and one that broke the chains that bound our parents to closed minded attitudes about sex and morality. The most profound effect was not realised by us until we went back to that little bay and we had the pleasure of seeing that same girl who started this ritual introduce it to her daughter, I knew then that we had in our own small way changed the world we lived in.
That you too could have such memories is also my wish, but then I am sure you will if you care to look back when the time is right.

BTW you were only 4 yo in 86 and probably have never even heard of west coast coolers or mondo rock, redgum and gangajang.
