*Growf*
So me buddy back from Asia is in Ottawa tonight.
He called me yesterday night right before I went camping. Now it's crappy sunday and I have nothing to do.
Not really a big deal. the stupid Kingston bars are only open until 9:00 on Sunday, you know, because we're oh so rightious.
I'm betting the LCBO and beer stores are closed now. I have some boos. nothing spectacular. Mostly ciders and some beers I've dabbled with and am none too fond of.
Even so there's nobody to do anything with! Who has their weekend on a sunday night?!

Camping was pretty fun. We ran around with out airsoft guns for a bit but two people, in the dark, with that much space and no particular objective other than to shoot each other doesn't work too well.
We had some deer threaten us on the way back though.
We each ate a ration before our little skirmish. Who'da'thunk' that military issue clam chowder in a plastic pouch would be so damned good.
They were american rations. And everything my buddy hated about them, I loved.
They didn't all have distinct military ration flavor that the canadian ones do, making them all taste exactly the same. Which is kind of like the smell of army surplus if you're familier with it.
No, it all tasted like food. The brownie was great. The crackers were awesome. I think I like them almost as much as the canadian ration bread. Which any soldier will agree is the best part of any of the meals.
Then we hauled all our gear out, started a little fire against the wall of this little bedrock shelf below out camping spot and boiled some water for coffee.
Now the bedrock has this odd quality to it. How can I describe it?... It explodes. Periodicaly through the night there would eb small pops in the fire, displacing logs and tossing embers a few feet away (It was pretty wet out, and there was alot of rock. Weren't too worried about it spreading.)
Later, just as I'm telling a story of sitting out by a fire and making out with a girl, I end with "...And then we had Sex" and just asY say 'sex' there's a huge BANG! in the fire that sent bits flying all over and kinda blew the fire apart.
Yes it was indeed an evening of dubious comments like "Dave! Just pull on it, bite down and suck."
Mind you this is much more funny because this is one of my few, straight, male friends, and we're both fine with shooting shit like this.
He noticed the birds started to chirp and we thought the sky looked a little brighter, giving us two watchless mo-fos the idea to get some sleep. We lay down in our sleeping bags then BANG! Sparks flew right into the air from where out fire had died down to glowing coals, life a firework going off.
A few seconds later we hear rocks hitting the ground in the distance. The fire had blown apart and there was pretty much nothing left.

Breakfast the next day was another ration. Mine was of higher quality than the other one. it had Cheese tortelini, spiced apples, a newer ration heater(which I saved), poundcake and a pack of peanut butter M&Ms. It came with apple cider mix too!
I ate the tortelini and the apples. The tortelini really wasn't as good as the clam chowder, but it was deffinitly food.
The apples were amaizing. I neglected to eat any more because by then I figure I had ingested some 2000 callories in the last six hours.

I tell you though. I would have no trouble what so ever, living off those things for a while if I had a good enough variety of flavors, which I know are out there. But I doubt I'll ever be in the military. I have five more rations to keep me happy for a while. i kind of wish I had more clam chowder though. Only two more left.

That was pretty much the end of the excitement. Now I'm home, kinda cold, lonely, tired, my hair's kind of a mess because I showered then took a nap.

I might snack on the remenants of my rations. Maybe start Resident Evil again but as Chris this time. I could stand to clean some too...

Well I don't work until 1:00 on tuesday so there's a chance I could go out tomorrow night if I can round anybody up.

Me go get some foody now.

I love camping!! Outside, fire, shooting each other, sounds great! tongue Wish I coulda gone. None of my friends ever wanna go camping. BBooooooring. But then again, I went to a party last night, so I guess we're even. Unfortunately it is easy to find something to do every night of the week here, which doesnt help myh drinking problem. whatever
peace cutie
