Las Vegas! Wish I didn't feel so alone...

I'm one of those oddball people who has absolutely zero desire to ever visit Las Vegas. The whole concept is repugnant to me.

Lol you do relize you were like 4 hours or so away from me. Yeah Vegas is fun when theres more people. Why were you there by yourself?

Working on new cars sucks huge balls. Hence why I like working on my car and truck lol. Yeah I closed my door the other day and my drivers side door glass shattered. I was pist. I finally found one in Nebraska. Infact its the only one in the us that can be found. I picked it up for $75 with shipping. Well have fun working at sears but its a job and you make more than I do rite now

Oh, what fun it would have been to go the the ball, but instead I went to a small party, then to a friends house at 3am, saw many vibrant amazing colors as we watched Alice in Wonderland, went home, watched Role models, and then fell asleep during The Onion Movie, around 5pm. Woke up around 8, watched Pirates 3, finally fell asleep again around...

Sounds like fun times! I have not done nearly enough of that kind of stuff over the past few years. My life these days seems to require I keep some sort of regular hours, otherwise work just sucks beyond belief.

I know the pain of moving from a larger place to a smaller place. My last place was a pretty large two bedroom, and when we moved to the pearl it turned into a loft, which translated means a larger studio apartment. There's still a lot of stuff packed up in our storage room.

You know, I'm not entirely sure I know what inspired the move to California for you?

well, we thought the dogs were ok. Kayden, the saint bernard, thinks duke is hurting the beagle when they play, so she has decided that she doesn't like him. He has drawn blood on her once, she has made many scratches and punctures, a bad one in his foot that was a vet trip, and one very bad one in his chest (we think she...

so, the car came together, finally...the rpm/shifting problem from before, when she wanted to die when taking off was I think because of a couple vacuum lines... whatever the shifting the only thing we did different was acquired a clip that we lost for a linkage...don't know, but she works...just sucks that I didn't get to get any miles on her before we left, she was...

I think you'll find rebuilding the VW a much easier job. I helped a buddy pull his engine years ago, he got a couple of cardboard boxes, one slightly smaller than the other. He put the smaller one inside the larger one, taped them up good and sturdy, and put them under the engine, then we undid the mounting bolts, pulled the engine rearwards, it fell on the boxes and crushed them, and we dragged the whole thing out from under the bus. He said he'd done it with old sofa cushions, too, hahaha!

How's the compression on the car? Think you got good ring seating?

I can't believe this is my last day at work. It came so quick! I still have to pack the bedroom closet and bathroom, and do a shit load of cleaning. Tomorrow a friend of mine and I are going to borrow a cherry picker and we are going to spend all day pulling my engine; we will detach the tranny and verify that all...

9 days left until I begin my month vacation. My last day working is the 15th, at which point I hope to god my car is finished. When I took her for her initial test drive last week, my friggin drain plug fell out and luckily I didn't sieze her. I did however destroy my brand new main bearings. So I paid another $50 for...

Oh, that's a fuckin' drag about your Geo! The advice I'd give you is to plastigauge it and make sure you have the proper tolerances, and to flush out your oil passages to make sure there's no debris floating around in there, check your cam journals for galling, make sure your oil pump still pumps up and that there's nothing in the screen. Bummer about your galled main bearings, but you've dodged several several bullets, namely bent or thrown con rods or other carnage.

As for the VW, your spark plugs will tell you a lot! First, adjust your valves! That's step one before you do anything, then measure your compression. Provided that's good, then pull your carbs and clean them all out and sync them. Start with new plugs (and make sure your distributor, cap, rotor, and wires are good) and learn to do a plug chop. Going by what your plugs tell you, go up or down on your jet sizes until you have the proper air/fuel mixture.

Don't be afraid to ask questions!

Wow, its been a while. We're all settled in, got everything goin good. I kidnapped Trevor for his birthday; after work I told him I was driving the mustang, end of story. The night before I had gotten everything packed and into the trunk of the car. I drove an hour and a half with him wondering where we were going. He knew we were...

I love sandblasting...Makes me wish I had one. but then again I don't really have anything to sandblast.

That's the thing, though: Once you get a sandblaster, you start finding things to sandblast...
